Good morning. In the studio, I’ve just arrived. I’ve been making some interesting shapes on the paper paintings. Now the question is how to translate them into bigger paintings? Perhaps I could spend some time looking at the artists whom I have been recommended in mentor sessions. I could also ask what is wanted of me. Maybe I try collaging some of the A4 drawings. Perhaps laying the smaller ones out on the big canvas and seeing what happens. Looking at what I have. I am interested in the idea of working on the floor. Treating the canvas like a map. More than that like a grounded earthly thing of gravity. Amy Sillman’s paintings are in my thoughts. Why? Definitely working on the floor.
I also had the idea to work on unstretched canvas on the floor, for paintings that are medium sized which I don’t have the right stretcher for yet. I wish I had remembered to do the journalling when I first woke up this morning. Tomorrow!
When I was doing yoga last night and felt this deep strong wooden tree trunk in my lower belly. Carefully moving forward.
Working on the floor with raw unstretched canvas has something moving about it.
